I would definitely not mind if this is what my Halloween haul looked like this year! Let me share with you some of the TRICKS I have up my sleeve for kicking those dark under eyes to the curb!
I've also decided to start a new series of posts: Bona Battles! We will tackle different makeup categories one by one to determine which product is the best of the best! First up: CONCEALER!
A few months ago I took it upon myself to find out which concealer worked best for me--there HAD to be one out there that would actually look good! I now have a fairly extensive concealer collection and I am posting today to offer my report.
These are my absolute MUSTS from a concealer:
1. It shouldn't accentuate my fine lines (it shouldn't crease OR it should be able to be set with powder).
2. It should cover my dark circles without making my under eyes look ashy.
3. It should brighten my under eyes.
4. It should be able to cover the rosacea on my cheeks on "no foundation" days (which means it can't be too orangey or I will look like an oompa loompa).
I realize this is a tall order, but there has to be a concealer out there that does the job... right?!
Drumroll please... Let's introduce the contenders:
Concealers:
Color Correctors:
And here's the Bona Battle bracket!

MAYBELLINE INSTANT AGE REWIND VS. TARTE SHAPE TAPE
WINNER: MAYBELLINE INSTANT AGE REWIND
I know, I know. How could I possibly knock out fan-favorite Shape Tape in the first round? Tarte Shape Tape never worked very well for me on my under eyes. The formula was too dry, which made my skin look crepey (NOT a good look!).
The Maybelline concealer blends effortlessly, is buildable, and makes my under eyes look refreshed and not wrinkly! That makes Maybelline the winner for this face-off.

SMASHBOX COLOR CORRECTOR STICK VS. LOREAL CRAYON CONCEALER
WINNER: SMASHBOX COLOR CORRECTOR STICK
The Loreal concealer is a "meh" product (honestly, they both are just "meh"). It didn't blend particularly well, the product creased up, and didn't set very well with powder. Loser, loser, chicken... loser (am I the only one who thought that was a little funny? Probably).
The Smashbox stick has a peachy tone that helps cancel out dark circles, which is just enough to give it the win for this round.

IT COSMETICS BYE BYE UNDEREYE VS. NARS SOFT MATTE CONCEALER
WINNER: IT COSMETICS BYE BYE UNDEREYE
This match-up breaks my heart because I think they are both great concealers! Bye Bye got the win because of the super-high coverage (which mama needs!).
I have to hand it to NARS soft matte though... it is a beautiful concealer (not too drying, which is amazing for being a pot concealer!). But for the purposes of this bracket, only one concealer can win!

MAKEUP REVOLUTION CONCEAL & DEFINE VS. NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER
WINNER: NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER
The Makeup Revolution concealer has taken the beauty community by storm. I definitely don't hate it, but it doesn't give me the fullest coverage, which tends to leave my under eyes looking a bit ashy.
NARS Radiant Creamy has high coverage and a beautiful finish, so it takes the W for this round!

SENEGENCE CONCEALER VS. SENEGENCE SHADOWSENSE
WINNER: SENEGENCE SHADOWSENSE
The concealer, even in the lightest shade, is too dark for me. That means I have to mix it with their white concealer to make it usable. HARD PASS!
The shadowsense is great for color-correcting, although the formula is dry it STAYS PUT. I find the shadowsense just works better for me out of the two!

MAYBELLINE INSTANT AGE REWIND VS. SMASHBOX COLOR CORRECTOR
WINNER: MAYBELLINE INSTANT AGE REWIND
This was honestly the easiest choice out of every single match-up. The Smashbox corrector is great when you first apply it, but it honestly doesn't do well under other products (pills up, slides around). I feel like the concept is good (which is why it went through the first round), but it just didn't work for me (which is why it won't go through again).
Maybelline gives me a much more flawless look!

IT COSMETICS BYE BYE UNDEREYE VS. NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER
WINNER: NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER
Bye Bye Undereye is a little more tricky to use because of how thick it is--it definitely takes more time blending and setting to get it looking just how I want. NARS Radiant Creamy on the other hand blends beautifully and easily (I just need to work quickly so it doesn't dry down too much before I've blended). I reach for the NARS more often than Bye Bye Undereye, so it wins this face-off!

NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER VS. SENEGENCE SHADOWSENSE
WINNER: NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER
Shadowsense dries down QUICK, which makes it hard to get a foolproof use every day. I want a concealer that works, day in and day out and is RELIABLE. That's why the NARS Radiant Creamy gets another win!

CONCEALER CHAMPIONSHIP
MAYBELLINE INSTANT AGE REWIND VS. NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER
This was the hardest decision! I love how the Maybelline concealer blends out and I love how the NARS concealer covers. I reach for both of these concealers leaps and bounds more than any other concealer I own... but which one takes the cake as the concealer king?
WINNER: NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER
I can use this concealer for a more natural every day look and I can use it when I go full glam, which makes it extremely versatile and the concealer I would repurchase FIRST if my makeup were all destroyed in a fire!
